While the second photo does look more natural (though only slightly), this is the beauty of SL!!! We can look anyway we please and if you're happy with your avatar (which is perfectly lovely by the way) then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! Besides, unique is worth its weight in gold!
Thank you Roewan for this thoughtful comment :)
Totally agree with Roewan - your existing avatar is lovely and instantly recognisable as 'you' whenever I see it on FashionFeedofSL. As a shape maker, I enjoy seeing my customers 'tweak' my shapes to add their own unique touch - complete symmetry of features would soon get rather dull! By the way, those Mynerva skins looked absolutely beautiful on you. Do and be what feels right for you, always :) ... Flora
The second one looks better, in my opinion, but it is not "you". Plus, I like your usual shape especially because of the heart-shaped face, which becomes less visible if you lower the mouth. But it is up to you: the best shape is the one you like best :)
I am an artist. I concentrate on landscapes, but I've both taken, and taught, life drawing (people). Your mouth placement is within normal variation, however I have wanted to suggest lowering it. I do think the second photo is just right. If your AV is based on you take a look in the mirror, which one is right for you?Your face shape is unique. I do not believe that lowering your mouth slightly will prevent anyone from easily recognizing you.
The second one doesn't look like "you" anymore. I agree with the above comments...if you are happy with your mouth position, go for it! I've always admired the distinctiveness of your face when I see you on your blog. Gillian Galicia
Thank you for all the wonderful feeback!
I couldn't agree more. The first face is def you :) The 2nd is beautiful too though. I think you should be whatever you like the best.Xoxo,Gabi
I think the second one looks much better. You blog a lot and are recognizable, but not always in a good way. Obviously your friends are going to come on and say that if you are happy with it, no one else's opinion should matter, but you are putting yourself out there A LOT for public consumption. I find your mouth position disturbing, to be frank, and it ruins what could be good skin reviews.
Your avatar look is fabulous ! I personally think photo 2 looks like a better position BUT I say. Do what you feel best about this is your SL and your look and you have clearly put hours into creating you. Be unique!
I prefer the second. But thats up to you :)
It sounds as though you are being peer pressured to meet beauty norms that are, after all, designed to sell products, not fulfill aesthetic needs. If you lower your mouth, why shouldn't Reese Witherspoon do so also? Don't let the ease of bloodless digital transformation make it seem like a good idea. Portia
while #2 is more typical, #1 is you, and makes you unique and you stand out in a good way, whenever i see your posts on the feeds i always know its you because you avatar is unique and pretty. i say don't change it.but i do no how you feel i get lots of comments telling me to make my avs hips and butt smaller but i refuse
Mouth position #1 Draws my eyes to your mouth and nose. Due to it being just slightly off from normal placementMouth position #2 Draws my eyes to your eyes. Which is what I prefer to focus on when looking at a personBoth look nice. But perhaps the reason why Many folk are unsettled by #1 is due to where their eyes are drawn to when they look at it.
I think #1 is you. It's your look. It makes you recognizable on the blogs. I say don't change to please the masses!
I read that some opinions talk about 1st look being more "you". However I remembered there was a time in which your av looked slightly different, so I checked your posts from past year and yeah... that's the "you" I liked better. For example in this pic http://sweetdebkips.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/11-27-c.pngMy opinion... I rather like the second pic. You might not look as original but I think the face looks a lot prettier and natural.
http://sweetdebkips.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/11-27-c.png... is the same shape as the 1st picture :)
Why conform to how other people want you to be? You have made your avatar the way you want and whenever I see you on the feeds you are completely recognisable and unique and I think that it a wonderful thing. There is n need to change for others, only change when and if you feel like you want/need to! :) I think your avatar is beautiful anyway so I would love for you to stay as you are.
Since you asked, I will answer you because I think you want an honest response and not some fluffy happy stuff like "it is your SL, be how you want" even though that's alright too :)I think that you might have lowered your lips position too much in the second picture, I would suggest maybe 8% instead of 15% lower. Also, *if* I were to mod your shape I would adjust the upper/lower lip ratio, to make it more even or slightly more upper lip. And I like my lips corners to curve downwards slightly, but I guess some avatars like the smiley mouth look as opposed to the "serious bitch look" which some people have said about my own. Good luck SweetDeb! Whatever you decide, as long as YOU are happy with it because you're the one that wears it, not everyone else. :)
If you would like me to get into the details, I always personally like having my mouth fairly close to my nose because to me, it looks "cuter". In the 2nd pic, with your mouth lowered, your face looks longer which I don't find as attractive as your first pic anyway. If I could choose between a larger space between the chin and the bottom of the lips or a larger space between the top of the lips to the base of the nose, I'd choose the former.Anyway, I hate nit-picking with looks like this so I will gladly wrap this comment up - It's only to help you get a reader's honest view :) Ignore all the superficial comments! They just silly.:)
I read your post, and the comments provided - some of which made me just shake my head - the commenter that left the most negative review, was not willing to share his/her identity. That alone is enough for me, not to put stock in what that person thinks or feels. While public opinion is nice to have, the only person that needs to be happy with your look is YOU. So, with that, I am going to leave you with a couple of quotes by Dr. Seuss that I find fitting to the situation.“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”Hugs, Sav
Your avatar is gorgeous, I've always thought she had a unique look and the first pic (normal for you) has a stronger, bolder look. The second one is just another pretty face. Stay with the normal if you like it.My two cents...
I have to admit though I love lots of different kinds of avatars and really appreciate variation of the norm, your chin has always stood out to me as a very prominent feature. Maybe try leaving your lips where they are and shortening your chin a little bit so there's not such a huge amount of space between your bottom lip and your jaw. You could keep that cuteness of the high mouth by doing that. I have the same aesthetic problem with very high foreheads too. And really I shouldn't be saying anything since I have monster giant lips and eyes LOL. You do what you feel comfortable with but realize that not everyone is going to love it.
I don't want you to change it. I love your posts on the feed, and I recognize your avatar no matter what skin you have on. Keep SweetDeb just as she is!!! Please?
Hi SweetDeb, How are you? I've always admired your av and you do look so sweet in your pics. I do like the current mouth position because to me it's a cuter look. At most I would try lowering it no more than 2-3 numbers on the slider. A shorter length between mouth and nose emphasizes a rounder, somewhat more child-like face. Another thing I do when I'm bored, is to move the mouth 1-2 points to the left or right of centre, of even pop one eye by a point or two. Others won't notice the difference but it gives a unique look to the face cuz hardly anyone will think of it. Have fun, Leonie http://lotuslandnotesv2.blogspot.com/
Neither. While #1 is instantly recognizable as "you", the high mouth placement is distracting. It's a little bit too close, but photo #2 is too far. Perhaps a smaller change to keep your signature look? That said, doesn't really matter what anyone thinks as long as you're happy.
I agree with Softpaw Sommer, meaning my eyes have always first been drawn to how high your mouth is, and I agree with Gogo...you don't have to lower it as far as you have in #2. I see Seren D said the same thing. Maybe try posting a pic with the mouth not lowered quite as much?
the second is perfect.. i like it so much! ♥
